Q: My cat threw up my shoelace..now what?
My cat ate my shoelace and threw it back up. This happened wednesday. Since then he hasn't been playing much or eating much. He still eats and drinks just not as much. He still poops and urines. Should i take him to the vet? What do you think is wrong with him?

When Luzy swallowed a few feet of word processor ribbon, I pulled it out and called the vet. I was told to keep an eye on her, but that there probably wasn't anything that could be done unless something really happened. I know this doesn't really offer any advice, but I'd say that a shoestring is probably less serious than ribbon with ink on it! If you think all of the shoelace came out, just keep an eye on your cat and watch for complications. On the other hand, if you are sure that not all of the shoelace came out, call your vet to inform him/her of the situation and get his/her advice. It is also a good idea to know of a 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital in case your cat develops a problem when your vet is closed.

He could have eaten something else, or the shoelace could have done some damage, I would be at the vet yesterday.
