Shorty has always liked to go under blankets and go under them as deeply as he can get under them some times he wants under them so badly if I have a big sweatshirt on he will mistake it for a blanket and try to crawl under it inbewtween my neck and the collar and hood. and sometimes he will freak out if he can't get under the blanket he wants under and will run off and hide if he can't get under it. Why does Shorty do this?

Cats like small, enclosed spaces because they have a natural need for protection & warmth. Even domesticated housecats have the instinct to be alert to danger so they tend to like places where they can hide when they're napping. The more enclosed a place is, the better they like it & the safer they feel. Also, sometimes they hide under things just to play.
