Could be skin mites.
Though poor diet could led to skin patches, especially if she is scratching dry skin. Does she have dandruff? Check the ingredients on your dog's food. It should be listed on the packaging. The first two ingredients should be some type of meat or by-product. Any fillers such as corn should be lower on the list.
