I think my Bearded Dragon has mites. He is spending increased time in the water bowl & there is little black dots in te bowl. I checked the openings, (vents, mouth, etc.) but I don't see anything. How do I get rid of them!!??

I know there are many mite off products at any pets store you go into. But for a cheap way of dealing with this, I would use baby oil, it covers up the mites in where they are staying such as burried in scales and will sufficate them, since no air can get to them, it is harmless to your beardy and it is just oil which can be bought at walmart or walgreens in a small bottle for 99 cents.

I would take him to an exotics vet that treats bearded dragons. Mites are tricky to treat. I don't think I would put anything on him without knowing what other impact it could have. If he licks himself, he might ingest something placed on him. When guinea pigs are treated for mites, it's done by injection or topically, behind the ears. Mites can be deadly for guinea pigs. I don't know about bearded dragons.
