Q: Microfiber or suede couch with animal hair?

May 4, 2009 | By Alli | 14 answers | Expired: 1894 days ago

Alli

I was also wanting to get a new couch...
I've read that microfiber is great with stains which aren't as big of a problem as CAT HAIR! My cats love sitting on the couch with me and even though I use a furminator on them, they still shed.

I was wondering which fabric is better or easier to remove cat hair? I read that little rubber hand thing you can buy at Walmart is great for "sweeping" it up. And I read suede is awful with stains.

Opinions?

I agree completely with Sheryl J below. I haven't seen my furniture in 10 years. They're all covered with throws!

Well this may not be your favorite or best answer but:

Get the one you like most, because in the end, you will still be putting throws all over it!

I have a White Cat and Red Couch.....I've tried it all :)

Like a few other people who posted I don't have a cat, but I have 2 dogs that shed like crazy. I have a microfiber couch and it is awesome when it comes to hair or whatever else those two turn up. Also I just got that animal hair remover from pledge and it works great with my couches.

I do not have a cat, but I do have a small dog that is on the couch all the time. I have a suede couch and as for hair removal it is pretty easy. Stains and any moisture are not good for suede. I just use the brush attachment for my vaccum and the hair is removed easily.

I would say microfiber. I own a dog, not a cat, but I have always been able to clean up anything and vacuum hair off easily from my microfiber. I keep a tub of baby wipes to wipe off drool, treat stains, etc and they work GREAT!

A microfiber sofa is the way to go. I've had mine for quite a few years. I have 2 cats that love to lay on the big puffy pillow top back. The hair is easily removed with vaccuum or I take a dry rag and it gathers and peels right off, no weaving into the fabric. Yes stains are also easy to remove. It makes cleaning a lot easier and faster

As far as removing the fur, some people just use strips of duct tape, I always have Scotch storage/packing tape on hand, so I use strips of that and I swear the next couch will be the same color as my cats-ha, like that will happen!

I've got microfiber and love it. It is great for stains and hair does come off pretty easily. I've never had suede so can't comment on that.

Definitely microfiber. Pet hair doesn't stick to it nor does it work its way into the fibers.
