I walk Abby on the same route and have not changed things seem to be going better and Abby is doing better but the problem now is the little black male affenpinscher mix him and Abby have decided to be friends he runs across the street to see her and could get hit he also wanders out of his yard and will try to follow me and Abby home he doesn't wear a collar and is always loose I would just drop him in his backyard which is fenced but there are holes in the fence and he can get out I even saw him run over from his yard through a hole into the neighbor's yard next door where there is big lab the big lab will growl and bark and is mean he is always mean towards me and Abby and it worries me this little dog could get hurt his owners know that he takes off and leaves the yard they are always out there yelling at him to get back there I don't know what to do the shelter would not do a thing about it here I have had to call them before and they never show up I could take him to the shelter but I hate to do that to him even though he is nice his owners would probably just get him back and last time I brought a dog in I told them it was a stray I found that was my blue boy the pitt bull they told me there was no room that they couldn't take him even when I was able to take him down there finally after a long fight they told me they were full and could not even take owner releases I told them about ten times he was not an owner release he was a stray even though they finally took him I still think they thought he was my dog and not a stray, but I don't know what I should do about this little affenpinscher mix cause even when I got him to go home today I got to the end of the block I noticed he had left the yard again I don't know where he had gone that time but I had to get back home and I did not see him anywhere but does anyone have any suggestions at all I don't know the dogs name cause his owners always just yell get over here before I beat you so I have been calling him Gunther I will start calling him something else though so I can get him to come to me when he is in the road so that he doesn't get hit he won't come to Gunther maybe I will figure out his name if I keep calling by diffrent names until he comes to one also I don't think he is nuetered, but does anyone know what I should do?

It is obvious his owners have no business having a dog. Not only do they not take care of him and ensure his safety by repairing their fence, they threaten to beat him. it couls just be a figure of speech but who wants to take that risk. Personally I'd find someone to take him and help him "disappear" to a new and better place. Before contacting anyone, you'll need to have him scanned for achip. If he's not chipped, you're home free. Just skip the shelters. They're all overfull. Go directly to rescue groups in your area and then expand statewide if necessary. Are you sure he's a mix or is it possible he's purebred? Lots of times even breed rescues will take mixes if they determine they're enough of the breed to exhibit the characteristics to that breed. So first contact breed rescues and then branch out to every rescue that takes dogs. He's not safe where he is, so the sooner he can be rehomed the better. If you can't do that, you might send his owners an anonymous letter telling them to take care of their dog and keep him in his own yard or he's going to end up dead, injured, stolen, or in a shelter. I find that that usually doesn't work, but I sometimes try it anyway. The risk is that they'll blame the dog instead of themselves and dump him or chain him out.
