Q: Lickittys

all of my kitties LOVE Pounce Lickittys. i haven't seen them for a while and today at PetSmart my fears came true. There was a sign posted that said that Lickittys have been discontinued by the manufacturer! can this be true? if so, i for one am going to write a letter to Pounce. If anyone else out there is saddened by this, lets get together and write many letters, hopefully if they receive enough letters, pounce will bring them back!

bizarre coincidence here. i was just flipping through a Drs. Foster & Smith catalog that i got in the mail today and saw a product intended for dogs that reminded me of this product (at least based on what i saw on the Pounce site). but let me start by saying that i would N-O-T give this specific product to a cat because it contains garlic which is toxic to cats!

in any case, here's the product:

www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=18516

you might have a better idea of just how similar this is to the Pounce product. but rather than giving this to your cat (bad idea!), this made me wonder exactly what kind of patents the company had on the "Lickety" type design and just how different a similar product would have to be in order for someone else to start selling it. if Pounce won't make it any more, and this brand makes something similar, it might be worth contacting them.

I had never heard of these - apparently they were only available at PetSmart and we don't have one here.

i can honestly say that i never noticed these in the store, but...wow. i just saw a video on the company's website. what an unusual and unique product! the only thing i can think of that is even remotely comparable would be Pawbreakers. good luck with that!

Dear XXXX,
Thank you for your e-mail about Pounce Lickittys. We're glad you took the time to contact us and appreciate the opportunity to respond.
We're sincerely sorry to disappoint you, but Lickittys is in the process of being discontinued. This was a test market product available for a short time at PetSmart stores and at PetSmart.com. Unfortunately, it didn't meet the criteria for a national launch and we made the difficult decision to stop making the product. You may be able to find it in stores for a little while longer, but it will not be available after existing stock runs out. Your opinion is very important to us and will be shared with our Management.
We'd like to help you find another Del Monte pet product that your cat would enjoy. You may want to try Pounce Moist or Crunchy Cat Treats. With this in mind, I'm mailing you some money saving coupons.
