Q: Kitty Litter?
I want to try to make my own kitty litter using certain items around the house to try and make it cheapier I want to come up with my own recipe for the kitty litter that I think would be perfect for my cats and make it easier for the people in my house that have asma I don't know if I spelled that right. But first I need to know what is in other cat litters such as Tidy cats to make sure I make it the proper way does any one know how to find out what is put in certain kitty litters that makes them litter? We use Tidy cats right now and all I know is that there is arm and hammer baking soda in it. So does anyone know?

I've heard that shredded newspaper works well. Yesterdays News (or Newz, not sure) is the bbrand that uses old newspapers.

I don't know about ingredients in kitty litter, but when you have cats declawed the vet recommends shredding newspaper. And I've seen one brand of kitty litter in the store that's made from newspaper. Also, I think there's one made from cedar chips or something similar.

no idea, but the baking soda is only used as a deodorizer. i would opt for mimicking the organic litters, like feline pine. all grainy litters have dust, tidy cat having less than most others, which is probably your concern w/asthma. you may want to try this pooper scooper instead: www.breathefreescooper.com/
i use one and it seriously eliminates the dust.
