My kitteh is acting very strange. I would video tape it and show you, but i haven't a camera. All of a sudden she will jump up and start attacking things out of the blue. Sometimes she attacks things that are not even there! She runs like a million miles an hour and does summer saults and countless things. Can anyone tell me whats' going on?

Shes just a really playful kitten. I have one of those, hes going on two and still not growing up. Hes crazy. He plays with his reflection in the kitchen floor. He attacks air. He runs up and down the stairs like crazy. I think its because the other cats are older and not really as playful as he is so he has to find something to play with. When he was a kitten, he would do it so bad that he would be panting like a dog and still running around. I used to have to try to hold him down to get him to stop, i thought his heart was going to explode. But now i realize he just loves to play.

The cats say no. It is a cat secret, but as you can see, many humans will put in their two cents on the subject. Peak is past kitten age, but he still is fascinated with rough plaster walls and will stretch way up and scratch slowly down them. He causes no damage, but seems to like the feel and the little noise. He also races from the basement through the house at top speeds sometimes playing by himself. He only recently quit climbing high all over the rooms. (partly how he got his name) I live with it since the rest of his behavior is good.

lol I don't think anything is wrong with your baby there. I have went through 2 very small kittens before and then my current two cats from 2-3 months of age. They see things that aren't there from time to time and get really hyped up and play zoom zoom nuts for up to a good hour sometimes. Goodness, my bub Tommy is a year old now and occasionally still does this.

It does sound like "play", but kitties play as a way of "practicing" to catch their prey in the wild, and this requires agility, fast and unpredictable moves, etc. What may look weird to people probably are "normal" cat preparations for hunting in the wild.

She's being a normal, playful kitten. I have a couple that are several years old that still do that.

kittens are hyper little creatures. she'll calm down once she's two years old. a great way to tucker them out is to have them chase a lure toy...but beware: once she reaches about 5 months, you won't be able to keep up w/her!

This is your 8 week old yes? If so it sounds like she is normal. Kittens will shadow-box, run into walls (or try to go up them), streak through the house.....seemingly going nowhere, and attack "ghosts". Sometimes they will even hiss and spit at nothing. Its all part of developing their "play" (later to be hunting) skills. If you have never seen it the kitten looks nutty....but they are fine. There is actually a term called the "evening crazies". The "crazies" are times when the kitten is very active and running around playing. Cats are night creatures so this time usually happens at dawn or in evening. If you can devote some "playtime" to your kitty to burn off some of that energy. When she gets older she should settle down.

Sounds like normal kitten play to me.

How old is she?
