Q: Just curious if anyone can tell me if raccoons
and possums hibernate in the winter? They always
came in to feed in the evening on our patio but since the cold weather and 8 inches of snow we
haven't seen them.

Raccoons do not hibernate, they will sleep more when it is cold out....as most animals do! Not sure about opossums!

The others are right...neither hibernate but they are less active during the winter. I still see possums coming in to eat at the feral cat stations but they're coming in earlier in the evenings than they do the rest of the year. Right now I'm seeing them just after it gets dark. I haven't spotted any raccoons lately.
