My dog likes these. I don't give them but every 8-10 days. Is there a problem with giving them to dogs?

Rawhide is something that should be given in moderation. When given too much, dogs can being to vomit. There is also a common myth that chewing rawhide is good for their teeth, this can be true to some extent. If they chew it too much it is actually bad for them! Also be careful when allowing your dog to chew one, many times they can swallow it and choke! So, as long as you dont give it to them too often it is ok.

I do not think it is the best thing for your dog, they are hard for them to chew and can damage teeth.

We have a 15 1/2 year old yellow lab... over the years he has had many many raw hide chewies. Our vets have said be careful with not too often, moderation... our younger dog charie, mixed breed maltipo 19 months old gets about one a month. So far no problems.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention, My dog also got a slab fracture on her back canine tooth, which had to be surgically removed. My vet suspected rawhides since they can often be very hard. So be careful...

I wouldn't recommend it, they aren't easily digested. My vet doesn't recommend rawhides, if you are looking for something to clean thier teeth, I would suggest Nylabone Healthy Edibles, they are a natural and healthy chew bone that is easily digestable. My dogs teeth are whiter than ever - and my vet was more than pleased!

I don't like to give my dogs rawhide. One of my dogs swallowed a piece and there was a sharp edge on it and cut his throat.

i got 2 huskies and they LOVE rawhides but i only give them the really big ones and they can only have them when i am watching, not allowed to have unattended because they can choke on them, if a piece gets to small i take it and throw it away cause they will try to swallow big chunks, i have also had to stick my finger down there throat to help unlodge a chunk, which is why they only get to chew on when i am with them watching tv or something, they are dangerous but my huskies will chew on them for hours on end and as long as i am there watching it is safe in my mind

I used to give them to my dogs also. I never had a problem but my large dog would try to swallow a huge piece, then he would gag it up. It was scary. I stopped using them after my brother's lab got a blockage from eating them. I just dont want to take the chance with them anymore.
