Is there a better way to trim my pugs nails than with a clipper?

Josie needs her nails clipped but I don't want to hurt her with clippers...

There is a new "filer" out that actually files away the nails. It is like a mini sander/grinder and works great. Since your pug probably has black nails, the quick is not easily seen, but a good rule of thumb is where the nail starts to turn down is where the quick stops. The quick can continue to grow down into the nail if the nails are not trimmed monthly. If you are not sure that you want to try it yet, contact your vet and ask them to show you the proper way to trim with out quicking your dog. Once you quick them, they become leery of nail trimming!

I agree with T. Her answer is just before mine. I've seen that advertised on T.V., I believe on Animal Planet for $29.95.

i dont think that clipping dogs toe nails hurts them unless you do it wrong and go up too much on them.
