Q: Is Purina a good brand compared to Iams or other brands?

There are tons of food out there that are good. Most opinions are just that, opinions! Most are biased, and that fine, but its really what works for your dog. You can get a good dry kibble thats not gonna cost you a ton. Just make sure you check the ingredients on the bag. You want the first item to be a protein and not some type of carbohydrate. I like Nutro, Iams(eukanuba), even taste of the wild is good, dick van patten is good as well.

I've fed Suzy a variety of foods since I got her and I've settled on Purina One canned food. When I feed her Iams or Science Diet she acts like an ADHD kid hyped on sugar. She doesn't care for Iams or Science Diet dry (and if she won't eat it, it's ridiculous to buy it). She loves Chef Michael's dry so mostly I feed her that.

I had 3 dogs when growing up [ (Doberman and 2 poodles). We alway fed our dogs Purina. All 3 dogs never had any unusual healt probles and dies of ol age. I think Purna is a god brand.

commercial dog foods, oddly enough, are never very good for our animals. they contain a lot of fillers, meat by-products, and never have enough meat proteins. they're actually packed full of vegetable proteins and that amps up the protein count on the bag, making them very misleading. dog food analysis is the best way to find a healthy food for you dog. as long as it's four stars or above, it's good. generally speaking, if you've heard of the food, it's probably bad. kind of a nasty little trick to play on the pet owner population.

Go to www.dogfoodanalysis. and click on "I" for Iams and they rate dog food from 1-5 (or 1-6
five being the best. Iam's is rated a poor ONE.
I would never feed mine Iam's or Purina - but what doesn't work for me - may work for you.
I feed Taste Of The Wild which has no grains, corn or fillers and has an excellent
amount of meat content.
Alot of foods has ingredients that aren't healthy. taste Of Wild is rated a 5.
There are alot of good quality foods out there - and I don't think either one was those are a good choice.
That's my opinion - but I've been looking into healthy dog food for my dogs and I know alittle about it.

As someone who worked for purina, I only feed my dog pro plan from purina. It is top of the line. One is another good brand from purina. Not all purina brands are healthy for your dog. Beneful is not.
