Its ok.. better then any grocery brand, but way too grainy, not enough meat.
Look into wellness, taste of the wild, innova just to name a few. I always reccomend Taste of the wild because it has more meat, no grain, great for dogs with allergies and its affordable.

finding the right food for your pet can be hard. you want good ingredients and nutrition, of course. it has to be something that you can afford. and then it's got to work for your pet as an individual. that said, Merrick is definitely way better than grocery store pet food and i certainly wouldn't ride the brand off, but for your money you could probably find something of higher quality. as grain-free pet foods go, Taste of the Wild does tend to be the most budget-friendly and likely won't cost any more than Merrick's foods will. my cats ate this brand for a while, but i have since decided to upgrade to better grain-free foods. since then, one food they've eaten is Wellness Core, which has real meats (not meat meals) as the first 2 ingredients, which TOTW does not. they're currently eating Evo Weight Management, which also boasts real meats as the first 2 ingredients. they've done well on all of these foods, but never forget that there is no "best food"...only a "right food (or foods) for your pet".

my dogs hated merrick, and then i found it wasn't a very good food anyway.
