Q: Is Lysol liquid or spray disinfectant safe to use around pets?

Cindy

I stopped using the liquid Lysol for cleaning my floors years ago when I heard it was toxic to pets, but I know of a vet clinic that uses it for disinfection.

ive used it for years ,with out a problem, i dont, how ever , leave it lieing about , for the dogs to drinks, or lick, heres what i do, i clean the floors etc and let the dog stay out side till it drys.... i dont use bleach, as it can burn the paws of the dogs, then they lick there paws, not a great idea, if your carefull then it will be all good

Lysol is poisonous to cats, pine sol is poisonous to cats and dogs. Bleach at a quarter cup to a gallon of water disinfects when the area is soaked and left for 10 minutes. A half cup per gallon will kill RW, but it can irritate resp. tracts.

I use the Bleach Anywhere. I had heard Lysol was not good for animals. I don't know for sure but better safe than sorry.

It's only safe to mop with Lysol if you mop again with just plain water, "rinse", after the initial cleansing mop. All mopping/floor cleaning products say that you should rinse after mopping.

I found the greatest cleaner to use around pets. Not only is it safe but it works great. It is grapefruit see extract . . you mix about 40 drops in a regular spray bottle and it cleans up EVERYTHING! I use it on glass, wood, etc. It is all natural and very inexpensive.

I stopped using Pine Sol years ago when I heard it attracts cockroaches. I'll check the new product by Clorox and Method brand.

I like the Method brand products...especially the grapefruit scent. They are natural and non-toxic. I get them at Target for the most part, but have seen them appearing in more stores lately.

There is a new product out by Clorox (Bleach Anywhere I think is the name) that is is in a spray bottle and can be used anywhere. It states that it is not harmful to animals. Maybe this would be a better choice than Lysol
