I had heard that same rumor too. So when I was at the vet dealing with Toddy I asked. The vet told me that the Greenies are no more dangerouse then giving bones.

As Sandy said, they are not good for dogs who are not careful chewers. The big chunks tend to get stuck in the esophagus. At my animal hospital we used to see dogs with Greenies stuck in their throats all the time. However, in more recent years, the formula for Greenies has supposedly changed to correct this problem. I have not seen an emergency involving a Greenie for some time now.

I doubt you want to give them more than one a day. Maybe just a few days a week? Anything can be bad for a dog if they aren't good chewers.
