Q: Is it safe to give a cat a portion of children's benedril when travelling?

My friend has a dog of the same approximate weight and the vet just gave her childrens benedril to calm him down while flying. I've also heard from others that it is ok to give them benedril to calm them down. I don't have a lot of money so I would rather get the benedril myself then get it from the vet if that is what he is going to give me.

It appears common that you can give your pets over the counter meds; the amount could be a concern. If you could call your local vet perhaps they would tell you over the phone without an office visit charge the correct dosage. Best wishes,

In the past it was unadvisable to give anything to diminsh an animal's abiltiy to pant while traveling in case of over heating. I would check with your vet before giving home remedies.

When our dog had a bad stomache problem our vet told us to give our dog a sertain dose of benadril and tums. So if the vet tells you it is ok then it is ok to give it to your dog. But BEFORE YOU GIVE YOUR DOG ANYTHING I would call the vet and make sure it is ok.

My vet has said it is OK to give my cat Benadryl. I give him 1/4 of a tablet, but check with your vet first for the correct dosage for your cat.

Be careful, I would suggest you call the vets and ask if that would be alright, usally they would just you advise (It wouldn't cost you anything) Hey what harm could calling them do.
