He is not in heat, he does not hump anything and he is now 3 years of age. I am seriously thinking on proceeding with this, since i can not provide him a girlfriend.

Absolutely neuter your dog & please don't provide him with a "girlfriend." Hundreds of thousands of highly adoptable dogs are killed in shelters or die on the streets every year because people don't spay & neuter causing an overpopulation of pets. Rescue groups, independent rescuers, & others work tirelessly to save these animals but we can't come close to saving them all. You cannot foresee all the scenarios in which your unneutered dog could have the opportunity to impregnate multiple unspayed females: someone lets him out, he runs away, he is stolen, a natural disaster occurs & he gets loose...and the list goes on. The rescue community doesn't need this. Also, an intact dog has an increased risk of testicular cancer as well as behavioral problems fueled by testosterone. Please do your dog, the rescue community, & the suffering animals in the shelters a favor & neuter him. There is no good reason to risk adding to the problem.

I have to agree with everyone else and say, YES, you should get him neutered.

Yes - you need to neuter your dog! All male dogs live longer and healthier lives when they are neutered. Also, dogs can develop testicular cancer if they are not neutered. Another reason to neuter your dog is that there are millions of unwanted dogs in shelters across America. You don't want to be responsible for allowing more dogs who may not be wanted to be born.

I have neutered all of my male dogs. It is a very good idea. If he smells a female dog who is in heat, he will follow that scent regardless of how trained he is. You need to neuter him. He will stay at home better, be happier and healthier.

Male dogs do not go into heat, only females come into a heat cycle. Male dogs who are neutered live a longer, healther life. If your boy slips away unattended for just a few hours he could impregnant several females, contributing to the pet overpopulation. In his lifetime, an unaltered male can produce 67,000 puppies in on year. Neutering your guy also makes his moods more even, allowing him to be a better companion.

Neutering not only helps control the pet population, but also reduces a pet's risk for certain types of cancers.

Absolutely....it is the best thing for everyone if your dog is nuetered! There are so many unwanted pets in this world.....Nuetering/spaying is the easiest way to prevent unwanted puppies. Check with your local Humane Society to see if they have a reduced-cost program. The procedure is simple and your dog will be healthier!
