My girl has threw up like 5 times (its yellow) since yesterday evening after being spayed. The vet says this is normal. How long before it goes away?

yes, it can be normal. However, after any animal gets spayed or neutered, they should not eat for at leat 12 hours, and when they do, it should be about half of what they usually get, and the same for water. Did you feed her when she got home?

It does happen. But, you should keep an eye on her. Be careful not to overfeed her. Like humans, their tummies can be upset and so light meals to begin are much better. Hope she feels better soon!

It can be normal - but please keep your vet informed as your pet can quickly become dehydrated by this much vomiting. Just like humans, anesthesia can cause all sorts of side affects....just please keep your eye on her.

MY dog got sick as well when she was spayed. She was not too bad though, but the vet recommended broiling chicken and white rice. He said it is the easiest food on their stomach when they are sick. It will eventually go away. I just think about when I was under anasthesia... I got terribly sick too. So just comfort her since that is what I really wanted myself. lol. She will be better within the next day or so. Hope this helps!

We just got our pit mix spayed and had exactly the same problem. She threw up 3x that day and then once the next morning, we were so worried and about to rush her right back to the vet. The yellow is bile, which means there's really nothing in her system to throw up. Try cooking some rice and mixing a small handful of her dry food in, if she keeps that down she'll be her old self in notime. My Jelly was jumping around and torturing my other 2 dogs the next day.

I just got my dog spayed. they throw up because of the anesthesia. if they throw up you should not give them food for a little while. if it is the next day that she is still throwing up you might want to call your vet. My dog threw up 3 times that day she got spayed and i called and they said if she still throws up the next day to call. My dog never threw up the next day.

Absolutely normal.

Great suggestions on this page. Normally, it will be bile or his last meal, but keep an eye for blood which may indicate bigger problems. Your pooch will be better very soon.

I would guess that is should be gone after 3 days or so. Try, like autisticgenius said, a bland diet, made by you. It should stop soon.

I know for humans it can take up to a week or two to get the anesthesia out of their systems. I would guess that it would be similar in animals.
Try a bland diet (boiled chicken and rice) and see your vet if the vomiting persists. If your dog is violently vomiting, see your vet ASAP. Hope your dog feels better soon, hopefully within the week.
