Q: Is Cottage Cheese and plain yogurt good for dogs?
I have heard from 2 different vets, one said to give it to my dog, the other said not to. I am also finding mixed answers online. I have tried it with my dog, and he likes both of them. I just wanted to hear what other dog owners thought of the matter.

I give my puppies plain yogurt or plain cottage cheese with their food for calcium....it helps make their bones stronger. My boy Iggy Pop had such weak pasterns when I got him bumping up the calcium in his food with yogurt did the trick.
When Priscilla was nursing I would go through cartons of cottage cheese...the protein/calcium ratio is better than yogurt. And it upped her milk production too.

Just this week I was at the vets office and I asked him what I could use to get Dakota to gain a few pounds because he's so active and loses weight . He said cottage cheeese should work perfectrly a table spoon with his food everyday. So there you have it cottage cheese is perfectly fine to give your dog.

I know of doggie recipes that call for yogurt and when I fostered new momma dogs - the vet tech said to give her yogurt or cheese for calcium. They love both. I don't see where it would hurt in small amounts.
