Q: Is butter bad for dogs like grapes or chocolate?

My dog would cheat, steal, and beg for butter. She stole a frozen stick off the counter and hid it "for later". I found it months later. Is butter on the NO NO list for dogs? Or would her biggest problem be food poisoning from bad butter?

Foods that are too rich and fatty can cause pancreatitis. A small taste of butter probably won't hurt a pet but I wouldn't offer it in large amounts. Consult with your vet if this is a concern.

I did a guide to dog food and cooking for your dog and I never came across butter as being good or bad. So I don't think it's poisonous but probably not good for her stomach. You might want to check with a vet, you probably don't have to go in just call and ask if they know, especially butter that has been out for four months.

From what I have read butter isnt as bad for them as grapes and chocolate. It can make them sick. You will want to watch for signs of sickness and see your vet if your dog does get sick.
