Q: If you can't afford the very best in animal food, but don't get the worst, should you own a et?

I have heard that if you can't provide the absolute best in food then you shouldn't own. But I don't feed my kids filet mignon every night, does that mean I should'nt breed? I do the best I can, which isn't bad, and don't know what I would do without their love!

I'm sure many people are in your position. If you can't afford the best, just don't get the cheapest. Get something in the middle that won't strap your budget. Make sure you can at least afford vaccines and a once a year check up. Don't forget the spay or neutering! I always have a little emergency fund, just in case.
