Q: if the ancestor of the dog is th wolf then why do dogs bark more than they like to howl?
why do dogs bark more than they howl if their ancestors are the wolfs?

Purebred wolves howl to communicate with each other & let each member of the pack know their location. The wolf genetics in dogs have diluted down through centuries of breeding with various dog breeds, some that are extinct now. Dogs still howl, some more than others. Some dogs don't howl at all. Some dogs are known to howl when left alone. This is thought to be a throwback to their wolf ancestry where they are trying to reestablish a connection with their pack, ie: their owners.
