I want to know if i can do this at the white oak animal safe haven. I also wanted to know if these puppys are free to adopt or if there are costs. Anyone that can help please let me know.

If the White Oak Animal Safe Haven's website is up-to-date, the adoption fee for a puppy is around $120 (more if a purebred). This fee helps cover the shots/immunizations and other vet care the puppy has received thus far. But if/when you adopt a puppy, you will also need to have the puppy examined by your own veterinarian and possibly pay for other needed shots.

Adopting and maintaining a puppy is not "cheap". However, if you can afford one and offer a loving "forever home", there are plenty of puppies waiting for you--and your daughters!

Generally adoptiong fees cover things like spay/neuter, vaccines and sometimes a microchip, it may seem a bit costly at first, but even if you got a dog for free, you would end up spending the same or more at the vet. A lot of rescues will also take the animal back if things dont work out.

Michele and idaviruma both made excellent points.

The money you pay to adopt an animal also goes right back into the shelter or rescue to help care for more animals. And since most shelters spay/neuter, vaccinate and even offer training - plus the paying employees and overhead, the adoption fees are chump change.

The cost of maintaining a puppy can get very expensive.
