Q: I need to know if there are shelters out there that will sell animals to research centers?

I am asking again . I'm not sure if the first time I sent the question went through. This is very disturbing to me.

Montcalm County, Michigan has a deal with a Class B dealer (someone who handles euthanization for the county and in exchange gets first choice of any of the dogs they want to sell to research facilities). Don't lose your dog in Montcalm County.

I doubt the SPCA or a Humane Society would do this because they champion for animal rights. Maybe city pounds do. It's a terrible thought.

I'm 99.9% sure that an SPCA or humane society would NOT sell live animals for research (even if the research facility wanted them). However, I have seen cats' (that were already being euthanized) cadavers get sold to schools for biology dissections. . .not a pleasant thought, but if the money helps save other animals it may be the lesser of 2 evils.

Depends on what kind of shelter it is; the City Shelter here kills 30,000 dogs per year, I'm sure they would.

I have only heard news reports of one shelter selling animals for research --that was a shelter in Montreal, Canada. If the news article was correct the manager of the shelter lost his job after this shocking scandal was exposed by the media.
