Ok, this is just for fun, I have 4 dogs and if I say one of their names only that dog looks at me or comes to me, how do the other dogs know thats not their name?

I'm pretty sure dogs can distinguish the different sounds and tones in our voice. It is just like the way we respond to our name being called

I think they can recognize different sounds...at one point I had 3 dogs, now I have 2 & each dog responds to their own name without the others thinking that they're being called.

They're just smart! ;) All three of mine each know their own name.
