A young puppy should be eating 3-4 meals a day. Most puppy & dog foods have charts telling you how much to feed them them. The actual amount of calories a puppy needs depends on breed, size, & activity level. A good rule of thumb for each serving is to feed the amount of food that she can eat in 10-15 minutes. If she eats what you serve in less time, give her more. If she leaves food & walks away or it takes longer, serve less. High quality foods will have more nutritional value, provide more usable energy, & have more digestible ingredients per serving than lower quality foods so your puppy won't feel as hungry.

It is very easy to give into those puppy eyes...but if you do then you end up with a puppy with a weight problem and the vet is telling you to put them on a diet. THAT is harder to do than you think. Get them on a food schedule and stick to it. A high quality food two or three times a days, ( I would think puppies would need three because of the high energy levels and healthy development.) plenty of exercise and play and everyone will be better off....your puppy will be healthier now and in the long run and many years to come.
