Q: I am curious.
I have heard that there are certain shelters that will actually sell animals to research centers! I am very disturbed by this and hope that this is false!! I do know that there are things that go on "on the low". I do hope someone who volunteers at shelters (or anyone who knows) will shed some light on this.

YOW!! Dear God, I hope not. I would imagine that if they were doing something that atrocious, they wouldn't admit it to anyone. I have heard that research labs do a lot of work on beagles tho. (something to do with their easy nature amoung a few other reasons) I would hope that if someone truly suspected this, they would report the shelter to the police/village hall

You may be thinking of dog pounds that are are supported by taxes. I can't see a not for profit shelter getting a dime using this practice.

The shelter I work with doesn't do that and I can't see how any would if they are non-for-profit. the donors, etc would be outraged as well as the general public
