Q: Hypoallergenic Animals??

Hypoallergenic Animals??

I've had my Devon Rex kitty for five years now and have not had any allergies to her. I know there are "Curly" horses that are supposed to be hypoallergenic. I also know there is a Rex rabbit; are they hypoallergenic too? Do you know if there are any breeds of other animals that are hypoallergenic? Any science nerds out there who know what kind of correlation there is between the curly hair gene an animal's status as "hypoallergenic"? Thanks!

They really arent hypoallergenic. They just produce less of what causes people to be allergic.
Siberian cats are a breed that are considered good cats for people with allergies.

I am not much of a help within the "science nerd" catetory, but I no that some dogs such as a Poodle, Maltiese, Shih-tzu, and Bichon Frise are hypoallerginic. We have a poople jack russel terrier mix and he doesnt shed and he is the greatest and we can take him with us because he doesnt bother any one who has any allergies to dogs.

Rex rabbits have a soft, velvet texture coat not a curly hypoallergenic coat, they shed like a normal rabbit.

I have heard poodles are hypoallergenic because they don't shed. I am not allergic to dogs so I can not tell, but I know Snoopy, our poodle, does not shed. Yes the Curly horse is hypoallergenic. Bichon Frise dog, pocket sized chihuahua, chinese crested, grey hound, schnauzer, scottish terrier and york shire terrier. I used google to find this out and there are more breeds. I hope this helps!
