How is this possible my grandma had a goldfish born in the pond named Blacky that stayed black his entire life he never changed colors the only other kind of fish she has in the pond are koi. Blacky was taken from her backyard pond by a heiron but I would like to know how it is possible that he got to be the size of a full grown king salmon and never changed colors he was always black. Does any one know?

As a rule goldfish will grow to the size of the container. The larger the container the larger the fish! Goldfish come in a variety of colors including black and although some change color over time some remain the same color all their lives. Hope this helps!

though i don't know any specifics, i do know goldfish can be black and given the space to grow, they'll get huge. my friends mom turned her pool into a fish-friendly environment when we were kids. this was a huge inground pool, i mean BIG! the fish swelled to gigantic sizes for the otherwise small breed, and we even got to go swimming w/them. the black is probably in their pigmentation, like people.
