I think there needs to be catagories of size relevent to population base or something to that end. There is just no way possible for groups to compete fairly.

I would have multiple awards, going to the top 10, and small cash awards for the remainder. That way everyone would be awarded for their hard work. I would end the contest with a competition that involves community service by each by the top 10 contenders to see how they work as a group.

I would like to see the journals posted relate to animals or amimal matters. I don't think points should be given to a journal posted talking about how a neighbor has the flu, a math test in school or a new Wii game on the market. The journal should relate to the site, not just be posted for points.

Michelle hit the nail on the head! The smaller shelters like us who are located in small rural communities don't have much of a chance to make it if we are competing against shelters in huge cities.

We have a TOTAL of 16,000 people in our entire county.

Having said that we are working extra hard to try to get to the top 20 anyway.

Is there a place we can go to voice our concerns?

This same question had been discussed (in various journals) after the first makeover contest and numerous suggestions were made (but largely ignored by Zootoo). Instead of trying to restate the previously-mentioned ideas, I will ADD one idea which I don't think anyone else has suggested to date. Many did agree that there needs to be a way of increasing the fairness regarding number of supporters each shelter is able to acquire since there will be differences in population density of areas, proportion of residents with internet access/home computers, varying numbers of participating shelters within a particular county or standard metropolitan statistical area (i.e., some areas may only have one shelter whereas others may have several within a 10-mile radius), and related factors. My proposal would be to calculate the MEAN number of points (arithmetic average) PER SUPPORTER; the shelter with the highest average would be the winner! This would enable shelters that have REGULAR point-earners (i.e., daily Zootooers) end up with a higher rank than shelters that have numerous ONE-TIME participants (i.e., register for 50 points but do not write product reviews, journals, pet news story comments, etc.--or show any other involvement). In short, I think frequent participation on Zootoo should carry more weight than sheer number of supporters that a given shelter can accumulate. Points awarded for adoptions could also somehow be proportioned to take into account the relative size of a shelter. [I suspect Zootoo is more interested in high-volume traffic, but this does not make for a "fair" makeover contest!]

I would change the amount of times you could vote on pet wars to 5 per catagory per day. I love Pet Wars

I would have a contest for the smaller shelters with less population and one for larger shelters with large amounts of people in the community. I know they said it was fair for all to be in this contest, and that size did not matter, but it really does matter.

My group is a horse rescue. We don't adopt out any wheres near the number of animals that a shelter does. We are at a real disadvantage here for points. I hope next time they can make it more fair somehow.

I just hope that the winner of the contest will truely be in need. I know there will be a shelter that will have fewer points and members than some but will be in a bigger need of support.
