I get urgent email requests every week for shar peis in danger so if you must have a purebred you can find one in dozens of shelters across the country. Millions of animals die in shelters each year. Millions more die on the streets. As long as people keep breeding just to have a puppy, millions will continue to die. Don't breed or buy while shelter pets die. Please spay & neuter your pets - they'll thank you for it because they'll be healthier & happier.

If your son wants to have a puppy, please consider adaption. Let the experienced breeders breed. Unexperienced breeders often breed ones with many health and/or behavial issues because of the poor blood line or simply don't know how to give the puppies good start before placing them into new homes. Please don't be one of those irresponsible breeders. It could be a good time to show your son how to be a good rescuer and how one person can change the life of unwanted animal.

Breeding is not your best choice. Let the pros do that and you should get another from the same source as the one you are so pleased with now. And ... please spay neuter all pets you may have, now or in the future.

I really don't think you should breed, there are allot of shar pei in breed rescues, it sad, but people get them because they are different & don't realize the care they require and the skin problems they can have, please rescue and don't breed.

I would check on petfinder.com

And please spay/neuter your dog and do a lot of animals a favor by not polluting the population with more puppies.

I highly recommend not breeding your dog. As much as you would like to i think you need to visit a few shelters and realize that our pet population is out of control and breeders only contribute to this problem. Sorry.

http://www.petfinder.com/search/search.cgi?pet.Animal=Dog&pet.Breed=shar+pei&pet.Age=&pet.Size=&pet.Sex=&location=benton%2C+AR
There is the link to Shar Pei's near you in Benton, AR. You may use the tool on the left to chose a different breed, define a age or sex, etc.

There are TONS of dogs at this high-kill shelter in nearby Little Rock. I clicked through and saw dozens of Chow puppies, shepherd puppies, Cocker Spaniel puppies and there were more.

Please, please consider adoption. There are so many dogs around you that need your help.

If you would really love another shar-pei before Christmas, look around on petfinder.com to find rescues or dogs near you. If you would just like a puppy, you can also use petfinder to find puppies at shelters near you.
I would definitely recommend you not breed him. Have you ever been to an animal shelter? Do you know how many of those dogs are there because someone decided to not neuter or breed their dog?
As for finding a breeder, that could take a while, the odds of you finding a responsible one that has a litter with pups still available is slim. If you really want a puppy from a breeder, shoot for your son's birthday, that could get you some extra time to search.

Please to the responsible thing and opt to adopt!
