Q: How to solve Problem in a two cat home?

Need advice on how to handle this for my sister. She has 2 cats, and one of them has laid claim to the litter box. It will actually guard it and not let the other cat use it. She has tried using 2 litter boxes, but he laid claim to both of them!!! Which has resulted int he other cat having accidents.( When you gottago, you gotta go!! How can she get the one cat to stop dominating the "potty" all the time???

I would get another litter box and spread them apart from each other as much as possible. Hopefully the other cat can't guard all three.

They always say you should have litter pans equalling the number of cats you have, plus one extra. That may help. Strangely, I have 8 cats but never had this problem. Try to scatter the pans around; basement, upstairs, whatever room you have. Good luck. sorry you're having this problem.

The suggestion to add boxes and spread them out is a good one. The bully can't can't be in all of them at once and the other cat will get to use them when he/she isn't looking. The other cat should settle into remarking the box after the other cat has used it.
