how to cook a sweet potato and get it real chewing

Ok doggy food network. What's the best way to cook a sweet potato chip to get it chewy so it doesn't go down in one gulp.

Low and slow. 200 degree oven. you can keep it open a crack to let excess moisture out but you have to put a foil ball between the door and the sensor that activates when the door is closed.

I was just going to suggest a food dehydrator! A friend has a dog with multiple allergies, and his favorite treat is dehydrated sweet potatoes. She makes a batch every week and stores them in an airtight container.

I still see food dehydraters at yard sales. Maybe that would work as well. You could do chicken that way too. At least it wouldn't be made in China like most of it is...

I do them frequently. My method is to slice them 1/4 inch thick,; place them on a non-stick cookie sheet; place them in a 200 degree F. oven for 2 hours.
You can shorten the time by microwaving them in a single layer for 4 minutes and then 1 hour in the 200 degree oven. Either way, let them cool completely. I store them in the fridge.
