How old do Miniature Schnauzers live on average?

I have a Miniature Schnauzer that's a spayed female who's up to date on all shots etc. She's never had any health trouble or injuries. I know smaller breeds tend to live longer than the larger breeds do. I have read up in all my dog books but none state the life span of any of the breeds. I want to know the life span of a healthy spayed female Miniature Schnauzer who's well taken care of & isn't allowed anywhere near the road. She's 4 pounds overweight & eats only Purina Dog Chow dry food. On occasion she gets treats but not daily. I almost don't want to know the answer because Maggie is my baby girl! I don't know what I'd do without her. She's young as far as I am concerned still @ approximately 6 years. Any answers? Guesses? My vet guestimates when he gives out how long an animal will live. I don't know, maybe vets don't like putting a number on a pets years or something like that.

My mother had a miniture Schnauzer and he just died last year at the age of 14, but I must warn you when she gets older she may have problems with her joints, my moms dog kept popping its knee out a few year before he died, and he developed diabetes so please watch what he eats and watch his weight, not saying you dog will have problems but it might accure when she gets older.

Google gives an answer of 15 years average in several places, and that sounds about right to me. I've seen them as old as 16 years, but as everyone else has said, it depends on the basic health of the dog and the care it receives.

My Koty is 11. He has congestive heart failure but is now on some new meds that I'm hoping will keep him going! Some days he's like a puppy!!! Sounds like you have a lot of good years ahead!! Hug that sweetie for me!! :)
