I have 3 cats that are short to medium short hair. I rarley brush them. Is it neccessary to brush your cats coat? Or is them licking themselves clean good enough?
My cats never have dirty hair or mangled. They go outside and play also.

Even if their fur doesn't get matted or tangled, grooming is very beneficial for their skin and coat because it stimualtes the natural oils in their skin. This keeps their coat and skin in nice condition. In addition, grooming can be a great bonding experience for a cat and owner. My cats LOVE to be groomed and wait for me to brush them. I usually groom them every week to 10 days, depending on how their coats look. Good luck.

Most of my cats are short hair, so they don't seem to have the matting problem of my long-haired cat. I brush my long-haired cat almost every day though because his hair will become matted and awful. He LOVES the brush, and the shorthairs like it, too.

I would advise you to brush your cats EVERYDAY because the can get matted hair. My cats got matted hair because we did not brush them. And if you don't brush them when they have a matted hair, ( they sometimes get matted hair when they don't clean a certain spot enough. ) it will get worse. So if your cats get a matted hair, brush it extremely good! GOOD LUCK!

Your cats should be groomed (brushed) by you as often as you can. You never know what may be in the coat. They could get fleas or even ticks. Be very careful if you let them outside.

I try to brush my cats as much as possible because I love their reaction and it really does help with the shedding. For me, the short-haired cats can be brushed much less often than my long-haired cats. I have found feeding them better food helps with the shedding as well.

Every couple days is pretty optimal especially for medium hair cats, they will appreciate it with a great reduction in hair balls!

Often, especially if they have long hair. Helps them and your home.
