How much catnip is too much?

I bought a bag of cat nip and put some in the whirly toy they have, left the bag on the desk when I came home from work both cats were laying on my desk top and keyboard sleeping and all the catnip was gone. Could that much harm them?

I'm not an expert but I don't think it will hurt them. Mine tend to do that a lot. They've never been harmed by it. If any thing the might just be bouncing of the walls a little extra!

There is no such thing as too much catnip. If there is a limit, my cats have far exceded it.

Sounds like you have cats that go berserk over catnip! As far as I know, catnip is merely an herb and NONTOXIC to cats, so excessive consumption should NOT be any alarm for concern. However, some cats will THROW UP after eating catnip, and I'd guess that the more catnip a cat consumes, the higher the likelihood of vomiting. It is also possible for some cats to get diarrhea from catnip (especially large amounts). So, excessive consumption isn't really a problem, but YOU may have some cleaning up to do!

Catnip wears off after a few minutes and frequent exposure to it will lessen the effect it has on your cat and your cat's interest in it. If you don't want a cat to eat so much at once, expose the cat to it more often.
