We were given a female iguana about 4 years ago. She was in a tank that was too small for her without proper heat and lighting. That night we went out and bought a larger tank, ceramic heat lamp, UVA/UVB light and bedding. Total bill, close to $200.00. But they don't stay small long and within a few months we had to move her from the 20 gal tank to a 55 gal tank. Total bill, about $300.00. Several monthe later we moved her into a 5 ft by 4 ft by 3 ft cage. Total bill, about $450.00. She now shares a room with 4 other iguanas, all of whom are free roaming without cages and fed only fresh fruits and vegetables. Weekly food bill, $20.00 to $30.00. Monthly electric bill for all the necessary UVA/UVB lights and heat lamps about $100.00. As you can see they are not cheap to keep as some people may think and ours are very healthy iguanas. Once an iguana becomes ill the cost will skyrocket. Vets that deal with reptitles are hard to find and very expensive. I wish you the best of luck with you decesion in getting an iguana. But make sure you have researshed the breed byefore you bring one into your home. Ours are like our kids and bring us great joy but they are a lot of work and require a lifetime of dedications as they can live to be 20 to 25 years old. (our oldest one is about 18 years old)

though i don't know how much it all costs, i know it's pricey. what i do know is that iguana care is a huge commitment. before you adopt one {and yes, you should adopt b/c there are plenty in need of good homes}, learn as much as you can about them first. do an online search for "iguana care" to get started.
