Q: How many think you can fix all behaviors in pets?

If your pet had a serious behavior problem, such as aggression, and killed another living being or animal or severely mutilated a child, person or other pet, would you euthanize your pet should it be recommended (obviously, not as a first choice). Do you feel all behaviors can be fixed?

I don't think there is a blanket yes or no to your question. Animals are no diferent than people when it comes to personality. There are bad seed out there but, I don't think all aggression is the animals fault. I think depending on the situation rehab is a good choice.

MOST CAN BE. BUT YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM. WHAT HAPPENED OR KEEPS HAPPENING. IF A ANIMAL IS JUST MEAN YOU CAN'T HELP BUT THERE USELLY IS A REASON . TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK AT ALL FIRST. BEFORE PUTTING THE ANIMAL DOWN.

I don't think all behaviors can be corrected. I would imagine that, just like within the human population, there are deviations that can be attempted to be controlled or cured through medication or therapy, but not all can. As far as euthanizing, I would leave that decision up to a professional. But, if I had a dog that mauled someone, I personally would not give it a second chance in my own home where I have kids.

This is a tough ?. I don't know -- it would depend on the circumstance. I have a friend who has a large dog (forget the breed -- something fancypants). She was sitting with him at a park and there was no one around. A man came over and approached them and reached out and petted the dog. Rocky bit him trying to protect him -- the man reported him -- and Rocky has one strike. If you ask me the man was the one with a problem -- so part of me thinks "problems" are created by humans. Of course owning a Cav if someone threatened me Sydney would lick them so I have a different sorta problem!

I don't believe all behaviors can be fixed in all animals. Some breeds are tougher than others, and when you get the amount of puppy mill dogs we get that are totally unsocialized, you realize just how difficult trainers like you have it.
But, as for dogs that have killed other dogs, we have two at the shelter ... and we are an absolute no-kill shelter. That means they have a life sentence unless the right one-dog farmer comes along (and even then I am not sure it should be done).
