Q: How does one handle seperation?
How do people handle being away from their pets? Like I'm at college...and I want my dog. I am not allowed to have him on campus, and I can't get an apartment right now. Hints for coping?

I know how it feels to miss your pets too. I had to be away from my cat and my younger brother gave me the best birthday present ever one year when he made a 30 minute video of my cat doing all sorts of different things throughout the week. I still treasure that video because it is now 19 years old and my sweet cat has long since passed.
I tried helping out at a shelter too and it was hard for me because I wanted to take them all home. Something that did help me was volunteering with one of the organizations that takes pets into retirement homes and assisted living homes. I met a lot of new people and it helped me by being around dogs and cats. Good luck in your college studies!

It's tough to be away from your pets! They're your family. To help you cope, maybe you could volunteer at a local shelter to walk other dogs? It might help if you can spend time with other dogs, even though they're not yours, and definitely help out the shelter!!

I know it must be tough and I hope that they are getting attention and love that they probably miss without you. Maybe you can be reunited soon again and that will be great!
