Q: How do you stop a dog from whinning so much?
Cookie lost her welcome in my son's room the other day because she chewed up 2 hair brushes and some toys in there. He doesnt want her in there to destroy more of his things. Now she whines to go back in there. It wouldnt be so bad if she didnt have this loud, ear bursting whine. It is an aweful high pitch sound that really hurts our ears. We tell her no & try to redirect her but soon she is back to it again! What do i do?

You just have drain that energy and provide her with positive outlets. She should have 1-2 hours a day of play/walking/some kind of stimulation. When she does whine at the door, get in front of her and while walking into her, say "back". In this way, move her out to an open area where she'll have to sit and stay. Then refocus her attention on a toy or activity. Once you've worn her out (or at least have made a dent), go back to your normal routine and repeat if she starts up again. Kong makes a great treat dispenser that I use when I'm not feeling like playing with a dog. I put a light coat of peanut butter on small, bite size treats, stuff about 5-6 in and let the dog have at it. Buys me 20-50 minutes. I got the petite size because the bigger ones are WAY too big: www.google.com/search?pq=kong+treat+dispenser&hl=en&sugexp=pfwl&ds=i&cp=11&gs_id=1e&xhr=t&q=kong stuff a ball&um=1&gs_sm=&gs_upl=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=1000&bih=586&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=iw&ei=HZIPT6DXCIrr0gHXtpTNAw#q=kong+stuff+a+ball&hl=en&sa=N&prmd=imvns&source=univ&tbm=shop&tbo=u&ei=IJIPT4nZHqTk0QHtt_yJAw&ved=0CIEBEK0E&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&fp=a7e335efb9265e18&biw=1000&bih=586
