Q: How do you stop a dog from eating poop?

My Chihuahua Gizmo is about 7 months old. He loves to run to the corner of the yard, poop and then eat it. He stops as soon as we tell him to, but it's almost as if he is doing it just to be bad. (I think he is going through his terrible twos in dog age).
I read somewhere that dogs ate their poop because they weren't getting enough fiber. We tried to do that but it didn't help, we normally feed Blue Buffalo for puppies.
I see a ton of different products at the pet store, but am unsure what to buy because
1. He has a tiny mouth and has trouble eating big, hard, chalky tablets, even when i break them
2. He is a picky eater
3. I don't have a lot of spare cash to buy everything until I find something that works
Also, I am not sure if he is doing it because something is wrong with him or because he enjoys being bad. I forgot to ask the vet the last time I went.

I agree with Lisa....said exactly what I would have said. Definitely keeping a clean yard is your best bet - and most sanitary. I've also heard about adding meat tenderizer and about Forbid. From what I've read/heard - some dogs do this to keep their territory clean. Good luck - and get out that pooper scooper!

He is not being bad! It is instincual for dogs to eat their stool to hide their presence from predators. You can pick his poop up as soon as it is deposited. Also try sprinkling Adolph's Meat Tenderizer in his food daily. This will sometimes help. A product called Forbid is available at pet stores that works in a similar way. It can be sprinkled on the food. Good luck.
