It is never easy, and never the same each time. Unfortunately as you get really old like me you get through it,. My last dog, Lady died and I couldn't stand to even go home. So I got new pup in 2 weeks, that helped some. But I love her for her. Before that, after Bones died, I did not have a dog for years............It just depends on where you are at in your life and your experiences. Good Luck

Well, you just mourn in your own way, keeping in mind that you have no choice but to move forward. No one can ever replace your beloved and you have to keep that in mind, too. It's hard. And lonely. I find comfort in spending more time at the shelter at which I volunteer. I wish you the best.

I sit and cry, alot, I can't eat, barely sleep, hardly function, than after a few days, I pick myself up, dust my self off and try to continue on. Very Hard.

First we cry, then we tell our family and friends and cry some more. We make a donation to an animal shelter in the pet's name and that helps some. We also have a Christmas ornament for each cat, living or dead. It will take at least 6 months if not more to get over the worst of losing a beloved pet.

It's also very hard on me. I couldn't even talk about my last dog I had to have euthanized due to old age and illness for two weeks after she died, and then only with very close friends who wouldn't talk a lot or ask a lot of questions. I looked at her photos, looked at other dogs...but couldn't adopt antoher dog for two years after she died. I spread her ashes in a park we used to go to. I wrote a memorium and sent it to my closest friends. I made a donation to the local humane society in her memory. I keep her memory alive by keeping framed photos of her around my home.

oh my, well... you can do it however you want. usually i'll listen to sad music, look at pictures, etc. but in reality there is no correct way to. you just do what you do to remember your pet, and remember it's okay to cry.

For me, it depends on the circumstances. I was a basket case when I lost my 13-year old Husky, but he was old, and he died of natural causes. The worst is when you have to make a decision to have your pet put to sleep. After I had one of my cats put to sleep, I was physically ill, and I slept a lot. The vet did all he could, but the cat had cancer and was in agony. I had no choice. Although you don't really get over it, the pain gradually subsides, and if you can bring yourself to do it, you adopt another pet. We picked up a stray kitten a couple of weeks later.

for most who dont understand, there are those of us that care for our pets, but we dont consider them pets... they are our kids... mourn however you wish hun... dont let anyone tell you diffrerent... if you want to cry, then cry... if you want to yell scream whoop & hollor, then do so... when we had to put my little Peke, Bella Belle down, i was so upset my husband drove all night to get home to me... we found a shady spot out my a little creek near the blackberries... that is where i go to be close to here now...
