My husbands friend gave have us a dog unexpectedly. He is a greyhound. We love him now like family even if we olny had him for week. The only problem is that our whole family disagrees with each others choice of name. Maybe you could post some names or any pet name websites. How did you name your dog or cat? Thanks!

When choosing names for my pets, I always consider their personality. Do they remind you of a favorite movie/book character? Do they have a physical trait that prompts a name? I like to name my pets short names that are easy to call, and sometimes something just fits. I named one of my cats "Wallace" because he just looked like a wally! I do think it is important to choose a name everyone likes, because if each kid calls him something different it will be too confusing. Whats wrong with his current name?

naming your dog something that they can recognize is always helpful. names ending w/the "eee" sound {lassie, fluffy} are easiest for the dog to learn.
also, using hard consonants is also easily understood and not mistaken for another word {roVer, maXwell}.
personally, i name my pets something that denotes who they are. joplin, for her powerful voice. tosca, b/c shes a dark haired beauty...and so on.

I went on the web, and googled dog names. I wrote about 10 down. I took the 10 names to my Family. We all made a pick. It is tough finding the right name. I like the Names Buddy, Rex, and Dewey Good luck in finding the right name.
