Q: How do you get your rabbit to play?
April 21, 2009 | By sherry f. | 5 answers | Expired: 1476 days ago
I got a new bunny about a week or two ago and I have several different toys for her, both in and out of the cage. I let her out everyday for at least two hours, often more, and I leave several toys out for her too. She just sniffs them as she hops by and doesn't seem too interested. I have heard people say that baby bunnies don't know how to play yet, but if thats the case, how do I teach her?

Yeah like many people say, not all animals like to play with toys. All you have to do is let them out in a play pen and run. When they are happy, they jump super high (or low), nibble and lick you for affection, or they grind their teeth..

I have had many house rabbits, and the toy that they play with the most is a 4 inch hard plastic ball that has a rattle inside of it. They have them in the rabbit section at petco (and sometimes the cat section). it is a loud toy, but they love throwing it across the room

Some rabbits play with toys..most do not. I have had over 13 rabbits and I would say maybe 4 played with toys...I can only recall one that really loved playing )tossing, scratching, and pushing a toy around with his nose). I also had one that played tag with my cat (not reccommended unless you are 110% sure about both animals compatibilities) one would chase the other, then touch them with a nose then then turn around and reverse roles, I SWEAR! It was fun to watch. If you really must have a rabbit that plays with toys, try freezing the toys on hot days, warming on cold ones, sprinkling them with different herbs/spices (make sure they are non toxic first) and most importantly making sure your rabbit has a lot of space.

When we first got our rabbit she was the same way. It took her a few weeks to warm up to us (even though the only time we put her in her cage was while we were sleeping). Once she was ok with us, she was playing with her toys non stop. We would place her toys where she would lay down or felt comfortable. There are times though that she doesnt want her toys all she wants to do is run around and do happy bunny dance. Good luck.

Not all animals like to play with toys, some just like to lay around I had a rabbit , he would sometimes just run around the house real fast, or stretch out and sleep, lay on our lap & have his head scratched, more like a cat than a dog
