How do you get skunk smell out? Does tomato juice really work?

My male Husky / Catahoula Mix was sprayed by a skunk yesterday and we can't seem to find something that gets the smell out. We have tried dish soap and bought Natures Miracle Skunk Odor Remover, which has not removed the odor. Further more the whole house smells like it even though he hasn't been in the house since it happened. What do I do? What can I clean with? How do I get my dog smelling normal again? Does tomato juice really work?

Best done immediately: mix 16oz Peroxide, 1/3 cup baking soda, 2 tbls Dawn Dishwashing liquid (cuts the oil). Saturate the dog's fur where the skunk spray hit it..... I usually do the whole dog. Massage in for 10 minutes, then rinse well. Towel dry. If smell is still there, repeat the treatment.

Tomato juice worked when my friends great dane was sprayed by a skunk. We were in the front yard with him when he saw the skunk and went after it - we took him into the backyard immediately and hosed him down and got dishwashing liquid rubbed in and then got the tomato juice poured on - the smell hung around for a bit, but not too long. Taz had gotten sprayed directly in the face so it went right up his nose and in his mouth - he was foaming at the mouth almost instantaneously so he was glad it worked well too. :) Good luck!

This has worked twice for us. 1/3 c. hydrogen peroxide, 16 oz. vinegar, and 2 tbsp. dish soap. Good luck!
