Q: How do you get rid of Skunk smell?

Last night our dog went crazy wanting to go outside. Usually when she gets that excited it's because she wants to chase a squirrel. This time she wanted to chase a skunk. Luckily the skunk knew she was coming and had already sprayed before she got there so Meesha didn't get too much of it. She seemed to get more off the grass onto her belly and her face. Now what do I do to get it off? I've heard about the tomato juice for years but I also know that doesn't work. She has very sensitive skin. Any suggestions?

When our dogs got sprayed we use febreeze (the original stuff) is safe and works great. Nature's Miracle also makes a product for skunk smell, I have never tried it, but there other products work great so I assume their skunk one would too.

I've always heard that tomato juice removes the odor and then shampoo as usual.

Mix these ingredients, wet dog with warm water and with rubber gloves rub on dogs coat. 1 QUART of (3%)Hydrogen Peroxide- 1/4 or 1/2 CUP Baking Soda- 1 tsp Dish Soap....You can substitute Vinegar (also apple cider vinegar) for Peroxide if your dog is sensitive.....Then just rub all over!
Just make sure you rinse really well. and dont get in face. it works really well.

I've heard of shampoos that are supposed to get rid of the smell, but I don't know how well they work.
