Q: How do you get a guinea pig to stop biting?
Our guinea pig is sweet but he bites fingers. It doesn't hurt but it's kind of annoying.

My guinea pig did the same thing. They are usually hunger when they do this. Give them a carrot or a piece of lettuce. Maybe your guinea pig wants another guinea pig friend. It will add so much to their lives. They are social animals. In the wild, they live in groups from 4-10 animals. Usually a few females, a male and their babies.

Sometimes a guinea pig will nibble to let you know it has to go to the bathroom. It might also mistake your fingers for a piece of food. I volunteer with a guinea pig rescue. One thing we sell are guinea pig sleeping bags that you can easily make at home. They are about 10 x 14, lined with fleece, and it you place the guinea pig in one when you hold it, they tend to nibble on it instead of you. Some guinea pigs just have a nibbling habit. It's not due to aggression, just an instinct to satisfy the urge to chew. Instead of offering treats in the cage, why don't you offer them as you hold it so it will nibble the snacks instead of you.
