I agree with everyone above.... is it just you and your Dad? I would also do a couple of things;
1.) Tell your Dad You would really like to walk your dog everyday - at least once a day. ( you need a collar and leash and maybe a harness)
2.) Ask your Dad if you and him could go to training classes? If you can't afford it - get a book out of the library or go to some training websites. You have a computer - so you can go to these sites for free.
3.) If you start walking your dog everyday - then you maybe can find a few tennis balls and start playing with him while he is still on leash (so he doesn't run away).

Here are some good books for training:
1.) Dr, Dunbars Good Little Dog Book by Dr. Ian Dunbar
2.) Clicker Training for Dog by Karen Pryor
3.) How to Teach a New Dog Old Tricks by Dr. Ian Dunbar
4.) 101 Dog Tricks by Kyra Sundance

This is my favorite dog training website:
siriusdogtraining.com (I think that is it)

Good Luck and let us know how your dog is doing!

How long is the dog crated. There is nothing wrong with crating. Dogs are den animals. My dog loves her crate and its her safe and secure place to chill out. Somedays I must crate her for long hours. I feel fine knowing she is safe I do get up earlier and go for a long walk. If she is crated for more than 6 hours my friend lets her out for some play time. Hore a dog walker to break up the day. I would suggest some chew toys and a hanging toy in the crate to tug on. Also plenty of exercise before and after you crate him.

I agree with the above answers. Another suggestion would be if you and your dad could take your dog for obedience training. Something you both could do together with your dog. Good luck.

First of all, why does your father keep your pet in a cage? If it's your pet, you need to take responsibility for it, and address the issue. If it's a training issue, then begin working on training your pet. I'm not sure I understand the issue. I would need to know why your father is caging your animal to give you any good advice at all. Feel free to email me.

can you offer to take the dog for a walk? At least he would get some exercise and play time with you. Maybe if you show an interest, and talk it over, with your father. it can be worked out. good luck
