i have a betta and i'm keeping him in a 3 gallon glass vase without filtration and aeration.
i have decided to put sand as substrate and i bought something labeled "Zen Sand" from the hardware. they're bigger than regular sand and smaller than gravel.
i want to put it in my betta's home but i don't know if it's safe to just put it there right away...
so, how do i clean them?

Well I would stick with sand at the pet store myself, but if you want to clean it I would put it in water then uses a mesh strainer and filter it and put it back in the water and strain it a few more times. Betas are pretty hardy so if you rinse and strain it a few times it should be ok.
